Past events

Restaurant AVA: Jan 2004, Jan 2005, Jan 2006, Jan 2007, Jan 2008

January 2008 saw the fifth annual fundraiser at Restaurant AVA, hosting over 650 people and raising a total of over $256,000 pesos over two nights (Auction and concert). With a mass of volunteers including musicians, event organizers, auctioneers, ticket sellers, and many others, this event has been a huge success and encouragement to all those involved.

Thanks to Jack & Amalia for hosting the event year after year.

Restaurant Maya: Dec 2005, Dec 2006, Dec 2007

Restaurant Maya has hosted a December event to raise funds for C.A.M. Cihuatlán for the past three years. This event was been named ‘Entertainment for Education’, as we saw plays and dances from the special education students of C.A.M and guests such as CECYTEJ and Xalisco dance teams in return for donations in the form of cover charges and raffle tickets. Raffle prizes were generously donated from The Grand Bay Resort, Coco Cabañas, Restaurant Maya and others.

Thank you to Peg & Annie for their kind support.

Barra de Navidad: 2003

The first fundraiser for Ayuda a los Niños raised a modest total of $17,500 pesos. This was donated to the Coquimatlan Rotary Club, which in turn contacted Rotary International who doubled this amount. Using these funds Rotary was able to build two one-room shelters for two elderly women, whose homes were completely destroyed by the earthquake of 2002. This encouraged the group of volunteers to continue with this project.

Not so big “Big Earle”

For those of you who are regulars to the Melaque/Barra de Navidad area you have probably met ‘Big Earle’! Earle has been a supporter of Ayuda a los Niños for several years and after the 2007 benefit concert in Restaurant AVA he made a promise: he would loose weight to raise money for the kids!

The weigh-in after the 2008 benefit concert concluded a loss of 106 lbs and a total of $56,497 pesos raised!

Congratulations to Earle – that is what we call dedication
