  What is an A.C?

Ayuda a los Niños Costalegre A.C. operates with the support of over 100 volunteers. Many of the volunteers participate in the organization of events year after year, and many new volunteers come forward each year to help out in different aspects of our work, such as distribution of information and selling tickets for events and raffles.

The idea and initial work for Ayuda a los Niños began in 2002 in the form of trips to Punta Pérula and the beautiful Cocina Islands, approximately 1½ hours north of Melaque. Early projects included providing support for the 2003 earthquake victims in Colima and raising funds for the improvement of the only special education school in the municipality (C.A.M. Cihuatlán).

Due to the growing success of these efforts to support medical and educational needs of underprivileged children in the Costalegre area and its surroundings, Ayuda a los Niños Costalegre A.C. was legally registered in Mexico as a charitable organisation in 2008. This enables us to receive more benefits such as donations from international organizations and Mexican governmental funds.

Mission Statement for Ayuda a los Niños Costalegre, A.C.

Our objective is to support, both financially and physically, the educational, medical & health needs of underprivileged children in Mexico. By working alongside local authorities & community members, we aim to direct this support to where it is most needed within the community and maintain cultural sensitivity throughout all of our activities.

The ‘A.C.’ part of our name stands for ‘Asociación Civil’, which is a Mexican charitable organization that consists of a legally registered board of members.
